Mushroom hunting: puff balls

I pwned Nathan at disc golf the other, and his only consolation was that as we traversed the course, we found several puff ball mushroom which we knew to be edible from our research of morel mushroom hunting in the spring. After verification of their safety for consumption we cut of the spoiled parts (one had maggots) and ate ’em up. Learn more about puff balls here.

Heres how it went down:

The mushrooms smelled like funky earth meat while we cooked them but tasted like a mild wild mushroom. Nothing to write home about, but just enough to write a blog post on.

These mushrooms are still growing and can be found in big open fields. Find your own and enjoy.
